SEIKO Pyramid Speaking Talking Alarm Clock With Snooze Calendar Date LCD QHL054S

This is essentially a re-make of a Seiko product from the 1980s/1990s - the Seiko Talking Pyramid was a niche item back then. This updated model is very distinctive and captures a bit of the "mystery of the pyramids" as it has no visible external display, and, at first, its purpose is unclear. However, when the apex of the pyramid is pressed the clock announces the time - the voice is a clear female one with two volume settings. When the time announcement is made the blue band around the top of the clock glows and you can switch automatic time announcements on and off by pressing a bar on the bottom of the front panel. There is also an LCD display in the base which allows you to set the clock, calendar and alarm functions. You can set the clock to announce the the time on the hour if you wish, plus, there are other announcements such as the alarm time etc. The alarm also has a snooze facility and battery life from the 3 AA cells appears good. This is a novelty item, and, not particularly practical, but it achieves what I believe it sets out to do, and, that is to provide a crisp verbal announcement of the time etc. and to project the image of being a "technological curio". It's also very well made - many talking clocks tend to be from unknown brands with a commensurately low level of quality, but, this Seiko model is an exception.
